Strategies for Shippers to Reduce Freight Costs Without Sacrificing Delivery Speed

Productivity vs Profitability: Understanding the Financial Struggles of Owner-Operators in Trucking

# QuickGs: Freight Solutions Newsletter - Alternative Version **Subject Line:** The Hidden Costs of Bargain Freight (And How Smart Shippers Avoid Them) --- ## Stop Throwing Money Away on "Deals" That Cost You More Hey there, Quick question: *Have you ever bought something cheap and actually been happy about it six months later?* Yeah, me neither. In freight shipping, that "great deal" you found? It's probably going to cost you double before it's all over. And I'm not just talking about money. --- ### Let's Talk About What "Cheap" Really Costs You know the drill. You send out RFQs. Carrier A quotes $2,000. Carrier B quotes $1,600. No-brainer, right? Save $400? Here's what actually happens: **Week 1:** The $1,600 carrier picks up your load... three days late. Your customer is already calling. **Week 2:** The truck "breaks down" somewhere in Kansas. No backup truck. No communication. Just radio silence. **Week 3:** Your shipment finally arrives—damaged. Now you're dealing with claims, angry customers, and replacement costs that dwarf that $400 "savings." **The real question:** How much did cheap actually cost you? --- ### What Smart Shippers Know (That Others Learn the Hard Way) Competitive pricing ≠ Lowest pricing **Here's the difference:** **Lowest Price Gets You:** - A truck (maybe) - Crossed fingers - Sleepless nights **Competitive Pricing Gets You:** - On-time pickup and delivery - Professional, vetted carriers - Real tracking (not "let me check and call you back") - Someone who answers at 2 AM when things go sideways - Actual accountability *Which one sounds like it'll help you grow your business?* --- ### The 3 Questions Every Shipper Should Ask (But Most Don't) **1. "What happens when something goes wrong?"** Because it will. Weather, breakdowns, accidents—logistics has a million moving parts. Does your carrier have a backup plan, or are you about to become customer service's worst nightmare? **2. "Am I getting market rate, or am I being played?"** Without market intel, you have no idea if you're paying fairly or getting gouged. Are you really getting a deal, or just getting taken? **3. "Is saving $200 worth risking a $20,000 customer?"** One delayed shipment. One damaged load. That's all it takes to lose a client you spent months landing. **Think about it:** What's actually more expensive here? --- ### Why Going It Alone Is Costing You Let's be real about what it takes to ship freight competitively: - Carrier relationships (hundreds of them) - Constant market monitoring - Vetting and compliance checks - 24/7 shipment tracking - Negotiating leverage - Technology infrastructure - A team to manage it all **Building this yourself?** You're looking at years and serious investment. **Or...** you could partner with someone who already has it. --- ### Enter QuickGs: Your Unfair Advantage Look, I could tell you we're "the best" and throw around buzzwords. But here's what actually matters: **We've Built What You Need (So You Don't Have To)** - **5,000+ vetted carriers nationwide** - We've done the homework. Every carrier in our network is pre-screened, insured, and proven. - **Real negotiating power** - Our shipping volume gets you rates individual shippers can't access. Not cheap. Not inflated. Competitive. - **Technology that actually works** - Instant quotes. Real-time tracking. Transparent pricing. No surprises. - **24/7 dispatch team** - Because freight emergencies don't wait for business hours, and neither do we. - **Someone who gives a damn** - When your shipment is our responsibility, we treat it like our own business depends on it. Because it does. --- ### What This Means For Your Bottom Line Our clients typically see: ✓ Shipping delays cut by 30% ✓ Predictable costs (no more budget-busting surprises) ✓ Time back to focus on their actual business ✓ Customers who are happy because deliveries actually happen ✓ Sleep at night (seriously underrated) --- ### Here's the Thing About Logistics... **You don't need a dispatch partner because you can't do it yourself.** You need one because doing it yourself is the expensive option. Every hour you spend: - Hunting for carriers - Negotiating rates - Tracking shipments - Managing problems ...is an hour you're NOT spending on sales, strategy, or growth. **What's your time worth?** Really think about it. --- ### The QuickGs Promise We're not here to be the cheapest option. We're here to be the *smartest* option. The partner who: - Saves you money in ways that actually matter - Delivers reliability you can build your business on - Turns logistics from a headache into a competitive advantage **We handle the freight. You handle growing your business.** Fair deal? --- ### Let's Talk (No Sales Pitch, Promise) We get it—you've heard it all before. Everyone's the "best." Everyone's got the "solution." So here's our offer: **Let's just talk about your shipping challenges.** No pressure. No hard sell. Just an honest conversation about whether we're a good fit. If we can help, great. If not, no hard feelings. 📞 **Reach out to QuickGs today** 🌐 **www.quickgs.com** 📧 **solutions@quickgs.com** Because shipping freight shouldn't feel like gambling. It should feel like having the right partner in your corner. --- **QuickGs: Freight Solutions** *Smart Shipping. Better Business.* --- **P.S.** Still think you're saving money by going cheap? Calculate what one delayed shipment actually costs you (lost customer, rush replacement, overtime, reputation damage). That $200 savings just turned into a $5,000 mistake. Let's make sure that doesn't happen.

Are You Really Getting the Best Deal on Your Freight? (Spoiler: Price Isn’t Everything)

February 13, 2026

Choosing the wrong carrier doesn't just delay your freight. It costs you money, damages your relationships with customers, and creates headaches that follow you for weeks. Yet most shippers still pick carriers based on whoever answers the phone first or quotes the lowest rate. There's a better way. What Actually Makes a Carrier "Right" for Your Shipment Not every carrier is built for every load. Before you hand your freight to anyone, these are the four things that actually matter: 1. Authority and Insurance Status A carrier must hold active FMCSA authority and carry a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability coverage and $100,000 in cargo coverage. These aren't suggestions they're legal requirements. A carrier without active authority cannot legally move your freight, and if something goes wrong, you have no protection. Always verify on the FMCSA SAFER system before committing. 2. Equipment Match A carrier with a dry van cannot handle your temperature-sensitive produce. A carrier without a flatbed cannot move your industrial equipment. The equipment has to match the freight not approximately, exactly. Confirm trailer type, length, and any special capabilities like reefer range or liftgate before booking. 3. Lane Experience A carrier who runs the Southeast regularly will know the facilities, the traffic patterns, and the delivery windows in ways that a carrier unfamiliar with the region simply won't. Lane-matched carriers deliver on time more consistently and handle exceptions more competently. 4. Track Record On-time delivery rate, communication reliability, and incident history tell you more than any quote ever will. A carrier with a 95% on-time record is worth more than one who undercuts the rate by $200 and goes quiet in transit. The Problem Most Shippers Face You don't have time to verify all of this on every shipment. You're running a business. Checking FMCSA records, confirming insurance, matching equipment, evaluating carrier history — that's a full-time job on its own. That's exactly why shippers work with a professional freight dispatcher. How QuickGs Freight Solutions Handles This for You At QuickGs, carrier vetting isn't something we do occasionally it's built into every single load we dispatch. Before any carrier touches your freight, we verify: Active FMCSA authority and authority status Current cargo and liability insurance with confirmed coverage amounts Equipment type and trailer capability matched to your specific load requirements Compliance documents including W-9, dispatcher agreement, and ELD compliance Carrier performance history, internal rating, and on-time delivery record We maintain a vetted network of owner-operators and small carriers across all 48 contiguous states. Every carrier in our system has been onboarded through our compliance process not just added to a list. When you work with QuickGs, you're not getting whoever was available. You're getting the right carrier for your load, verified before dispatch, monitored in transit, and followed up on through delivery. What This Means for You as a Shipper No more wondering if the carrier is actually insured No more chasing drivers for updates mid-transit No more surprises at delivery because the equipment was wrong No more rate con headaches because documentation wasn't handled properly You focus on your business. We handle the freight. Ready to move your freight the right way? How to Choose the Right Carrier for Your Shipment Without the Guesswork

You bought the truck. You got your authority. You hit the road with one goal: make money and be your own boss. Nobody told you about the rest. The Part They Don't Talk About Every owner-operator and fleet owner knows what it feels like at 11 PM parked at a truck stop somewhere in Ohio, trying to find a decent load out of there for tomorrow morning. You're scrolling DAT, calling brokers who don't answer, getting lowballed on rates, and doing all of this after already driving 600 miles today. Meanwhile the truck isn't moving. And a truck that isn't moving isn't making money. This is the pain point nobody warns you about when you go independent. The driving part? You've got that. It's the business part that quietly eats your time, your energy, and your profit margin every single day. The Myth of Doing It All Yourself There's a version of this industry that tells you the best operators handle everything on their own. Their own loads, their own negotiations, their own paperwork, their own broker relationships, their own compliance tracking. That version is a lie. No successful business operates that way. Not a single one. A doctor doesn't also run their billing department. A contractor doesn't also do their own accounting. The moment you try to be both the operator and the back office, you compromise both. You're either driving or you're working the phone. You can't do both at full capacity and the market is not forgiving to anyone operating at half capacity. Running a trucking business alone isn't independence. It's just a harder version of working for someone else, except now you also carry all the risk. What Changes When You Have the Right Partner When QuickGs Logistics is running your dispatch, here is what your day looks like differently: You drive. We work. While you're focused on the road, we're on the phone with brokers negotiating your rate. We're sourcing the next load before you finish the current one. We're handling the paperwork, the rate confirmations, the check calls, the broker communication all of it. You don't chase loads. Loads are ready for you. You don't get lowballed. We negotiate because we know the market, we know the lanes, and we know what your truck is worth. You don't disappear into compliance paperwork. We track it. This is not a luxury service for large fleets. This is the basic infrastructure that any serious operation needs to run efficiently whether you have one truck or twenty. The Math Is Simple An owner-operator spending three hours a day finding and negotiating loads instead of driving is leaving money on the table. At an average of $2.50 per mile, three hours of driving at highway speed is $125 to $175 of revenue. Every day. Five days a week. That's real money paid not in cash but in time the one thing you cannot get back. A professional dispatch service doesn't cost you money. It recovers it. QuickGs Logistics Built for Operators Like You We work with owner-operators and small carriers across all 48 contiguous states. Our dispatch fee is 5 to 12 percent transparent, no hidden costs, no long-term contracts that trap you. We find the loads. We negotiate the rates. We handle the brokers. We manage the paperwork. You drive. That is the partnership that makes this business work. Ready to stop doing it all alone? Visit QuickGs Logistics LLC or reach out directly to get started.
